US Prosecutors Handed Sex Abuse Case of Ex-S. Korea Pres. Spokesman

U.S. federal prosecutors have been transferred the case on sex-abuse allegations against South Korea’s former presidential spokesman Yoon Chang-jung.

Washington D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department said Wednesday that the U.S. Attorney’s Office will now decide what direction the case takes.

Yoon is accused of sexually assaulting a young Korean-American intern of the Korean Cultural Center in Washington while accompanying President Park on a U.S. trip in early May.

Washington D.C. police have focused efforts on securing testimony from the victim and witnesses as well as gathering related evidence.

Federal prosecutors will decide whether to charge Yoon with misdemeanor sexual abuse or seek a felony charge after reviewing the materials they got from the police.
