China's Vice President Li Yuanchao has met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
China's Xinhua News Agency said Li met with Kim in Pyongyang on Thursday and conveyed China’s stance on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
Li said Beijing will push to get the stalled six-way nuclear talks back on track and work together with related countries for denuclearization.
Kim responded he supports China’s efforts to resume the six-nation nuclear talks, and North Korea will work with other countries to establish peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
North Korea's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Li delivered Chinese President Xi Jinping's verbal message to Kim. The KCNA did not give details of the message.
Li is visiting North Korea to attend events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice. It’s the first visit by a senior Chinese government official to the North since February when Pyongyang carried out its third nuclear test.
