Police have arrested the driver of the train that crashed in Spain on Wednesday killing 78 passengers and injuring 140 others.

Francisco Jose Garzon Amo was arrested in his hospital room on Friday on suspicion of reckless driving. The train he was controlling, the Alvia 151, was going twice the speed limit when it derailed.

The New York Times reports screen shots of Garzon Amo’s now-deleted Facebook page were carried by Spanish newspapers. The Times said the shots showed comments from last year of the driver boasting about topping speeds of 124 miles an hour.

The Times also said the president of Spain’s rail network Renfe, Julio Gomez-Pomar, described Garzon Amo as a veteran driver with much experience passing the curved wall where the train derailed.

The train’s black boxes have been recovered from the wreck and could shed light on Spain’s deadliest train accident in decades.
