Chinese Vice President: Armistice Commemorated for Peace

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao says the 60th anniversary of the Korean War armistice is commemorated to make progress for the future.
 
Li made the comment in North Korea where he’s visiting for a ceremony to mark the anniversary of the cease-fire.
 
China's Xinhua News Agency reports Li went to a cemetery where Chinese war veterans are buried. He said the armistice is commemorated to better protect the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and to pursue regional prosperity and development.  
 
The vice president added that the Chinese communist party and the government will never forget the sacrifice of China's sons and daughters who fought for the nation during the Korean War.
