Due to the collision of the North Korea Cold Current from the north and the Tsushima Warm Current from the south, the waters surrounding Dokdo are rich in plankton and anadromous fish species, creating great fishing grounds. These fish species include salmon, cherry salmon, cod, pollack, saury, squid, and sharks, which are fishermen’s main sources of income. Ocean floor rocks provide homes to various marine animals and seaweeds, such as kelp, sea mustard, conch and abalone, which are also important sources of income for the fishermen.
