Korean Movies Vie For Oscar
3 Korean movies are vying to be nominated for an Academy Award. Kim Ji Hoon-directed “Hwaryeohan Hyuga,” Lee Chang Dong’s “Miyang” and Kim Ki Duk’s “Breath” have been chosen as candidates to represent Korea in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2008 Academy Awards. Voting will be held and the winner will then go to the second round of voting, competing with films from other countries for an Oscar nomination.

Though other prestigious Korean films like “Oasis,” “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring,” “Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War,” “The King and the Clown” and “Welcome To Dongmakgol” have fought for an Oscar nod in the past, none have been successful so far.
