Well known for his toxic lyrics and unique style of rapping, Cho PD is back with his fifth album, "Great Expectation." This time he has released a two-disc album, of which the first disc is titled "Politics and Social Change" and the second "Love and Life." "I just wanted to impress larger audiences since my music had been appealing to Cho PD maniacs only. The first disc contains the original Cho PD's angry voice while the second includes more accessible songs that are easy to follow," said Cho. This time he performs his title song, "Dear My Friend," with female singer In Sooni whom Cho says is a real inspiration and provides a huge presence that no other singer could give. Cho PD debuted back in 1998 with the song "Break Free." Since then, he has been labeled a "cynical rapper," who frequently criticizes facets of Korean society through his lyrics. Listening to his new songs, however, especially the second disc, it may seem Cho has mellowed in melody and words. His explosive anger seems to have retreated a bit. Perhaps he has mellowed or maybe he is just revealing more of a softer side that was always there. Cho PD is planning to perform at several small clubs sometime in May or June.
