PIFF Round Talk on Asian Figures in Hollywood
Peter Loehr, head of Hollywood agency CAA, recently spoke of the upcoming films involving Korean movie star Lee Byeong-Heon and singer/actor Rain.

Loehr moderated the PRO & Star Summit Asia Cooperate Program’s “Round talk 2: Asian Figures in Hollywood Blockbusters,” held at the Heundae Grand Hotel in Busan Tuesday, as part of the 12th Pusan International Festival.
He spoke of the two Korean actors venturing into Hollywood, stating that it isn’t easy for Asian actors to find good film projects, but fortunately, these two Korean stars had found “cool” roles.
About Rain’s upcoming role in the Wachowski Brothers’ “Speed Racer,” Loehr said that although the role is not a big one, it’s a great opportunity for Rain to be involved in a project directed by the world-renowned directors and co-starring big names, like Susan Sarandon, Emile Hirsch, and Wui Nan.
Loehr also mentioned Lee Byeong-Heon’s significant role in the upcoming film starring Josh Hartnett.
A panel made of director Gore Verbinski, actress Michelle Yeoh and Spencer Baumgarten of CAA, joined Loehr in discussions about the Asian Film industry and Asian stars in Hollywood films.
“Pirates of the Caribbean” director Verbinski praised the creativity and open minds of Asian film makers and actress Michelle Yeoh spoke of the need for Asian actors to become more “aggressive” in getting themselves out there and finding roles that break Asian stereotypes.
