Part 07. Let the Flowers of Democracy Blossom
The April 19th Revolution was a landmark event that represented Korea's first step toward democracy. Sickened by the corruption and blatant disregard for the law and moral standards by the Syngman Rhee administration, the Koreans rose up, first in Masan then in other parts of the country, in protest of the government and to usher in democracy. There were many bloody sacrifices along the way, but people's relentless call for democracy and justice finally brought down the Rhee regime on April 26th, 1960. The wheels of history have been righted with the sacrifices and righteous spirit of the Korean people.
