Part 29. An Age of Diverse Culture
In the 1980s, a new wind began to blow into the Korean culture scene, with the high wall of art collapsing and the thick wall of ideology crumbling. Ordinary people started to express their daily lives through diverse cultural forms. Pleasure-seeking and decadent culture emerged, but there were also efforts to overcome it and restore indigenous culture. Thanks to these efforts, Korean culture became rich and diversified in the 1980s. It moved beyond its limits and bounds to bring about a grand feast of cultural products. The fresh change eventually comprised a major part of Korean culture.
