February 14th is known to many as Valentine’s Day. But this week, cities across South Korea and around the world recast it as simply “V-Day” and kicked off a series of events to help stop violence against women and girls. According to the UN Commission on the Status of Women, globally, at least one in three women and girls is beaten or sexually abused in her lifetime. In response, over 11 years the V-Day movement has raised over $80 million and reached over 300 million people.
My guests this week are Kathryn Bokyung Park and Bre’Shae Pittman, two of the primary organizers behind V-Day Seoul.
During our conversation, we talk about this year’s events, the global V-Day movement and how each of us can work to stop violence against women and girls.
