Carol Park, Author of "Memoir of a Cashier: Korean-Americans, Racism, and Riots"

2017-04-29

Twenty-five years ago, on April 29, four LAPD officers were acquitted of beating African American taxi driver Rodney King. Angry people took to the streets, which continued for six days and is now remembered as the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

In remembrance of the LA riots, KBS WORLD Radio interviews Carol Park, a researcher at the Young Oak Kim Center for Korean American Studies, who wrote "Memoir of a Cashier" based on her experience working as a cashier at her mother's gas station in LA.

Join us where we find out what it felt like to be a 12-year-old at the time and how the Korean-American community and the American society have (or haven't) changed.
