2017-05-06

The month of May is “Family Month” here in Korea and it’s filled with many special days including “Parents’ Day” and “Children’s Day” designated to express appreciation to our loved ones.

May 11th is recognized as “Adoption Day,” a date designed to promote a positive culture of adoption. Also known as “Single Mothers' Day,” the date draws attention to the plight of single mothers as well as children who were placed into adoption by unwed mothers.

Today our guest is Katelyn Hemmeke, a Fulbright Junior Researcher whose research focuses on the challenges and complexities associated with international adoption and birth family search system.

Katelyn will tell us about her research project and her thoughts on raising awareness about Korean transnational adoptees.
