Kim Hui-cheol, executive director of Chungmu Art Hall

2016-03-01

Executive director Kim Hui-cheol joined Chungmu Art Hall as a producer when the venue first opened. He succeeded in turning Chungmu Art Hall into a commercially successful musical theater while keeping its characteristics as a public theater intact. Musical “Frankenstein” was also the result of Kim’s bold risk-taking action. Based on the 1818 horror classic of the same name, the homegrown musical production was a great success from the first day of its opening. Kim Hui-cheol’s next project is “Ben Hur.” His dream is for the Korean films and Chungmu Art Hall’s homegrown musical productions to grow together. Kim has succeeded in building a musical-only theater in Korea. We now wait for the cinematic version of his musical to hit the screens and his creation “Frankenstein” to be shown at the home of musicals, the West End of London.
