Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater hosts gugak performances at all times at the concert halls set up on the second and third basement floors. And the person entrusted with the job of getting Donhwamun Traditional Theater off to a successful start is the accomplished daegeum master Kim Jeong-seung.



Kim was also recognized by Korea’s most esteemed traditional musicians for his expertise in court music. He also expanded the spectrum of traditional musical performances by modernizing the playing method of Korean traditional instruments.



Kim Jeong-seung is coloring traditional music in various hues. What he strives for these days is to turn his life itself into an art. He wants to move people’s hearts with only his gaze and hand gestures. He has so many plans for traditional music that one can’t help but look forward to the exciting future of Donhwamun Traditional Theater.
