LP records, the icon of analogue sentiments, appeared to have pushed out of existence by digital music sources. But they have been treasured by a number of collectors and music lovers, and the nostalgia and memories from the days gone by are often resurrected to touch our hearts. And Choi Gyoo-sung, a pop culture critic, LP album collector, and Korean pop music historian, take people to the days when vinyl records were in fashion to revive their nostalgic sentiments.
Choi is heading the Korean Pop Music Research Institute, serving as a consultant for the K-Pop Music in Gyeongju, Korea’s first museum on popular music, and a selection committee member for the Korean Music Awards. He is not a songwriter nor a singer, but he has been diligently working to elevate the status of Korean pop music and inform the world about its excellence and cultural value.
