N. Korea Not to Hold Arirang Festival This Year: RFA

Radio Free Asia says North Korea will not hold its “Arirang” mass games this year. The North holds the event every year to mark the anniversary of the Korean War.

The report said a travel agency in China posted on its Web site that the North had asked the agency to announce Pyongyang's decision to cancel the event this year. The agency, which specializes in tours to the North, did not say why the North had called off the games.

Radio Free Asia says observers believe Pyongyang canceled the event because it needs more time to prepare new mass games that better represent and befit the Kim Jong-un government.
