The U.S. Democratic Party has adopted a party platform that includes calls for North Korea’s denuclearization.

The Democratic Party adopted its policy platform at its convention held in Denver, Colorado Tuesday, laying out key platform planks on issues including pension, health care and North Korea’s nuclear issue.

In its platform, the Democrats called for a verifiable end to the North’s nuclear program and vowed to continue diplomatic efforts to press Pyongyang to fully shed light on all of its nuclear weapons and materials.

The party also pledged to become the voice for Cuban and North Korean people whose basic human rights are being oppressed.

Greg Craig, a top advisor to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, projected that there will be no changes in key North Korean policies if Obama becomes president.
