Senate Confirms Clinton's Nomination

The United States Senate has confirmed Hillary Rodham Clinton’s nomination as secretary of state.

The Senate approved her nomination Thursday in a 94-to-two vote.

Clinton is the first former first lady to assume the post of the nation’s top diplomat, and only the third woman.

A total of eight officials appointed by President Barack Obama have gained Senate approval as of Thursday.
