A Princeton University professor who has advised U.S. President Barack Obama on foreign affairs from his candidate days held an interview with Korea's Yonhap News.
In the Friday interview John Ikenberry predicted a type of "sunshine policy" would embody future U.S. foreign policy toward North Korea. He said, unlike the Bush administration, the Obama adminstration intends to take time and resolve the North Korean nuclear issue through dialogue.
He said the Obama policy is like a global sunshine policy based on dialogue and interest which will apply also to Iran, China and Russia.
Ikenberry, though, did say that it would be meaningless to speak in detail about Obama's North Korea policy given the current instabilities in North Korea.
Earlier he spoke at Kyunghee University about the Obama administration's foreign policy.
