Bad Weather Delays US Food Shipment for NK

A scheduled shipment of food aid from the U.S. government has not arrived in North Korea due to bad weather.

Voice of America quoted a U.S. nongovernment organization worker as saying that the arrival of the food has been delayed and the ship is currently docked in the Chinese city of Dalian, several hundred kilometers from North Korea.

Nearly five-thousand tons of corn, beans and cooking oil was scheduled to reach the North before January 19th.

Five U.S.-based NGOs --- including Mercy Corps, World Vision and Samaritan’s Purse --- will take part in distributing the U.S. aid once it reaches the North.
