US Experts on NK Arrive in Beijing

High-profile U.S. experts on North Korean affairs arrived in Beijing Sunday for a two-day stopover, before they head to Pyongyang.

The seven-member team comprised of former U.S. government officials includes former Assistant Secretary of State Morton Abramowitz. Former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Stephen Bosworth and Professor Jonathan Pollack from the U.S. Naval War College are also among the seven.

The delegates are expected to meet with ranking Pyongyang officials, including nuclear negotiator Kim Kye-kwan in the first civic exchange between the U.S. and North Korea since the Obama administration took office.

The delegation plans to arrive in Pyongyang Tuesday and return on Saturday.
