WP: NK's Threats Aimed at S. Korean Gov't

The Washington Post says North Korea’s recent threats against South Korea are targeted at the Lee Myung-bak government.

The report cited Thursday that the North had recently issued warnings of “unavoidable war” and had announced the cancellation of all inter-Korean military agreements.

The U.S. daily said the comments are aimed at the government of South Korea, which has stopped giving its heavily armed communist neighbor unconditional aid.

The report added that last year, Lee ended his predecessors' "sunshine policy" toward the isolated North, irking the North’s leadership.

The daily said that despite such threats, Seoul has maintained its current policies on Pyongyang with President Lee playing down the North's rhetoric, calling it "not unusual."
