The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has promised to rectify its labeling of a Korean island on a map of South Korea posted on its Web site.

A map in the CIA’s new World Factbook currently labels Jeju Island as part of Japan’s territory.

According to the U.S. ambassador to Seoul, the CIA promised to make the correction, saying it will be a simple process.

The map also labeled the waters between South Korea and Japan as the Sea of Japan, not the East Sea and has the Dokdo islets labeled as the Liancourt Rocks. The U.S. agency says it will review the labels of both.
