NK Won't Attend Civic Forum with South, US

A U.S. university says a civic academic forum scheduled between the two Koreas and the U.S. has been indefinitely postponed due to North Korea’s inability to attend.

University of Georgia Institute on International Issues’ Director Park Han-sik said the first three-way forum of civic experts since the launch of the Obama administration had been set to open February 23rd.

The forum was designed to be a civic dialogue channel for Korean Peninsula experts to discuss inter-Korean and North Korea-U.S. issues.

The guest list included former U.S. Ambassador to Seoul James Laney, Korea Economic Institute President Jack Pritchard and North Korea’s Asia Pacific Peace Committee Vice Chairman Ri Jong-hyuk.
