North Korean escapees have released new information regarding a Japanese woman abducted by North Korea.

Japanese broadcaster NHK quoted North Korean escapees as saying Thursday that Taguchi Yaeko married a North Korean man in the summer of 1986, which is later than the date that North Korean authorities claim she died.

After being abducted, Taguchi reportedly taught Japanese to one of the perpetrators of the bombing of Korean Air flight 858 in 1987.

Following NHK’s report, an association of family members of Japanese abducted by North Korea said Pyongyang’s claims on Taguchi lack credibility and she may still be alive.

The North claims that Taguchi married another Japanese abductee in 1984 and died in a car accident in 1986.
