'NK May Conduct Missile Test around Clinton's Tour'

A former senior adviser to a high-ranking U.S. envoy says North Korea may conduct a missile test around the time U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to be in Asia next week.

Balbina Hwang, a native of Korea and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, served as a special adviser to former Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Christopher Hill.

Hwang on Thursday said in a forum hosted by the Brookings Institute that Pyongyang could seek to draw the attention of the Obama administration by following through with its missle test during Clinton’s trip to Asia.

She also said North Korea will try to drive a wedge between Seoul and Washington throughout Obama’s term in office, just as it did during the Bill Clinton administration.
