The U.N. Security Council is continuing to face difficulties in its efforts to respond to North Korea’s rocket launch.

South Korea’s U.N. Ambassador Park In-kook said Wednesday that a council meeting of key members was cancelled on Tuesday as the countries involved needed further internal consultations.

Meanwhile, North Korea’s U.N. Deputy Ambassador Pak Duk-hoon told reporters at U.N. headquarters in New York Wednesday that there is an obvious distinction between a satellite and a missile, emphasizing that his country indeed launched a satellite. He said many countries have attested to this fact.

Pak added that numerous countries have launched satellites in the past and therefore it is unfair for the international community to raise issue with Pyongyang’s launch.
