British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says military action against North Korea in response to a rocket launch last Sunday is not being considered.
Brown made the comment during a television interview with Al Jazeera English after being asked if there was any chance of an attack on North Korea following the launch, which South Korea, the U.S. and Japan believed to be a guise for a long-range missile test. He said that with the launch, the North has effectively isolated itself from the rest of the international community and that there is a general distaste for what has been done to acquire this type of technology.
Brown added that he believes there will be advances in negotiations over the next few months, as efforts are made to create a new nonproliferation treaty that would meet the aspirations of countries that want both defense and civil nuclear power.
The televised interview will be broadcast on Friday.
