Nations Working Separately on UNSC Response

The five member nations of the U.N. Security Council and Japan are working separately to draw up a response to North Korea’s rocket launch.

Members of the council failed to agree on a U.N. response during meetings held this week following the North’s launch on Sunday.

A high-ranking official at the U.N. said the representatives of each country are currently carrying out negotiations with their own governments.

The six nations will hold closed talks on Monday and are expected to adopt a statement early next week.
