A lawsuit against Korean pop star “Rain” for a canceled concert in Los Angeles will be tried by a U.S. federal court.

Rain recently formed a team of attorneys, including two Korean lawyers, to prepare for the lawsuit.

Andrew Kim, the promoter of Rain's June 2007 concert at the Staples Center, filed a suit on April 14th at the federal district court in the state of California, seeking 30 million dollars in compensation from Rain for the canceled show. The plaintiff is holding Rain, Park Jin-young, Rain’s former management team “JYP Entertainment” and the singer’s Korean event coordinator “Star M” responsible for the damages.

Andrew Kim originally filed the suit with a civil court in the state of California on March ninth, but re-filed it with a federal court at the request of Rain, who wanted the suit to be tried at the federal level as the parties to the suit reside in different countries.
