Russia Unveils Photos of Korean Independence Activists

Russia has unveiled dozens of black-and-white photos of Korean independence activists at one of its national museums.

The unveiling comes two days ahead of the 64th anniversary of Korea’s independence from Japanese colonial rule.

The photos show the lives of Korean immigrants and independence fighters who lived in Russia’s Far East regions of Vladivostok, Ussuriysk and Partizansk during Japan’s colonial rule.

One of the photos shows a funeral for 46 Korean armed independence fighters who died in a battle against Russian soldiers supported by Japan in 1921.
