China Envoy Visits NK to Resume Nuke Talks

China's top nuclear envoy Wu Dawei has left for North Korea to persuade the North to return to the six-party nuclear talks.

Wu will reportedly stay in Pyongyang for a week to hold talks with his North Korean counterpart Kim Kye-kwan and other officials.

The Chinese envoy is expected to explain to North Korean officials the results of his recent trips to South Korea, the U.S, Japan and Russia and discuss ways to resume the nuclear talks.

During his North Korea trip, Wu is also likely to convey Beijing's firm support of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.

Wu's trip draws attention as it comes after recent visits to the North by former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun.
