US: NK's Recent Steps Not Enough

The United States has welcomed agreements reached between Hyundai Group and North Korea on key inter-Korean tour projects and on reunions of family members separated after the Korean War.

Assistant Secretary of State Philip Crowley told reporters Monday that small gestures that might open the door for renewed dialogue between the two Koreas is a welcome development.

However, he was quick to add that such marginal steps in and of themselves are not enough, stressing that the U.S. wants to see Pyongyang take definitive, irreversible steps, toward denuclearization.
