Chinese leaders are extending their condolences over the death of former President Kim Dae-jung.

Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin sent a message of condolence to the wife of the late former president, saying that he and his longtime friend Kim established a strong partnership between their two countries during their tenures.

He added that the Chinese people will never forget the achievements Kim made.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Tang Jiaxuan also mourned the death of Kim, whom he met with in May to discuss bilateral ties.

Chinese President Hu Jintao sent a letter of condolence to President Lee Myung-bak on Tuesday.
