Iran Denies Links with NK Arms Seized in Thailand

Iran is denying claims that it was the destination for North Korean-made weapons aboard a Georgian-flagged cargo plane that was halted in Thailand in December.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told reporters Wednesday that there is no link between the aircraft and his country.

The spokesman also said Iran has no need to import such arms.

Earlier on Monday, Thailand said that the aircraft, which was seized during a refueling stop, was heading to Iran, though it wasn’t able to confirm the ultimate destination of the some 35 tons of weaponry.
