US: Top NK Nuke Envoy Has No Plans to Visit US

The United States has dismissed rumors that North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye-kwan may visit the U.S. or meet with U.S. officials while in China.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley, however, told reporters Wednesday that North Korea is “saying the right things --- that the six-party process should resume, and that it remains committed to denuclearization.” He added that the right words must be followed by action.

Crowley said Washington hopes the recent visit by the head of the international department of China’s Communist Party, Wang Jiarui, to the North will lead to the resumption of the six-way nuclear talks.

Crowley also stressed that China and the United States have similar views of the current situation regarding North Korea.
