China has again called for the swift resumption of the six-way nuclear talks.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said in a press briefing Thursday that Beijing is hoping the six-nation talks will reopen promptly through joint efforts by concerned parties.

Ma added that the Chinese government appointed top nuclear envoy Wu Dawei to the post of special representative on Korea Peninsula affairs in a bid to show that China places significant importance on Korea issues and the six-way talks.

Ma also confirmed that North Korea’s top nuclear negotiator, Kim Kye-kwan, met with Wu and shared views on the nuclear discussions.
