A North Korean man who managed a restaurant in Nepal has reportedly fled to India.

A diplomatic source said that the man, identified by his surname “Yang,” decided to leave Nepal due to concerns that the branch of the North Korean restaurant chain he was running was not doing well.

The source said Yang was worried he might be subject to criticism from North Korean authorities for not bringing in a sufficient amount of foreign currency for the Pyongyang regime.

A South Korean intelligence source says Nepalese authorities have arrested two South Koreans living in Nepal for allegedly having helped the North Korean to flee.

Seoul is demanding that the Nepalese government free the South Koreans.
