FM Calls for Closer S.Korea-China Ties

Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan says China and South Korea should collaborate closely for peace in Northeast Asia and on the Korean Peninsula.

Kim said Wednesday that North Korea’s continued provocations are the largest threat to security in the Northeast Asian region.

The minister also said that South Korea and China, which are strategic cooperative partners, should develop their relations to coordinate areas where the two nations differ in stance as well as seek common gain.

Xing Haiming, charge d'affaires at the Chinese Embassy in Seoul, said China would spare no efforts to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and work on resolving the issue through dialogue and cooperation.
