A summit will be held in Seoul next week to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the establishment of the Global Green Growth Institute and South Korea’s 15th anniversary as an Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member.
Secretary to the President for Green Growth and Environment Kim Sang-hyup said Thursday that the government and the OECD will jointly host the Global Green Growth Summit 2011 on Monday and Tuesday.
The event will draw heads of international organizations and many high-ranking South Korean government officials. OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria and Under-Secretary-Generalof the U.N. and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Noeleen Heyzer will be among the attending.
A large numbers of global green business leaders from the private sector are expected to make their way to Seoul as well. They include Softbank Chairman Son Jeong-ui, head of China’s Suntech Power Zhengrong Shi, and Danish environmentally friendly heating and cooling equipment manufacturer Danfoss chairman Jorgen Clausen.
