Soil Samples to be Taken Inside Camp Carroll

The U.S.-South Korea joint probe team has agreed to take soil samples from inside Camp Carroll, in Chilgok, North Gyeongsang Province in southeastern Korea.

Previous survey results gathered using ground-penetrating radars and electrical resistivity devices did not gain the public’s trust regarding potential contamination.

The joint team will now measure pollutant levels through soil samples and cutting-edge electromagnetic sensors. It also said it would organize a group to provide support to the South Korean government with personnel from several government ministries.

In response to local residents’ request for a quick update on the findings, the probe team said it will provide regular briefings on its investigative schedule and the results of the team’s meetings.
