Japan Demands N.Korea to Reinvestigate Abduction of Japanese

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has reportedly ordered a government panel on North Korea’s abduction of Japanese to demand North Korea to conduct another probe by September.

Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported that Kan said at a meeting on the Japanese abductee issue that if North Korea does not respond to demands for a new investigation, Japan will bolster its sanctions against the North.

Kan also ordered preparation for dialogue with North Korea and to enhance the collection and analysis of North Korea-related intelligence.

The Japanese government announced eight response measures in another probe on the kidnapped Japanese and a review of additional sanctions in October last year, but North Korea has not responded.
