A U.S. Congressional Research Service report says China’s food assistance to North Korea has declined sharply since 2005.

According to the report issued earlier this month, China’s food aid to the North stood at more than 500-thousand tons in 2005, but it fell to 250-thousand tons in 2006.

Food assistance stood at little over 300-thousand tons in 2007, however, it fell again to around 100-thousand tons in 2008 and 2009.

The report said that China’s exports of food to the North also saw a sharp drop during the same period.
