Japan's Top Nuke Envoy to Discuss Resuming Six-Way Talks

Japan's Kyodo News says Japan's chief delegate to the six-party nuclear talks will visit the United States and China.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry's Director-General for Global Issues, Shinsuke Sugiyama will meet his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei in Beijing Wednesday.

The news agency says Sugiyama will then visit the United States to meet his U.S. counterpart and will soon also hold talks with Russia's chief delegate to the six-way talks.

In the meetings, Sugiyama is expected to reiterate Japan’s stance that it does not accept resuming the six-way talks without concrete action from North Korea towards denuclearization. Tokyo also seeks a resolution of the North's nuclear and missile issue together with the issue of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea.
