K-POP Phenom Continues in UK

The popularity of Korean pop music or K-pop is heating up in Britain, the birthplace of pop.

Korean boy band Shinee held an undisclosed, special performance at Abbey Road Studios in London on Sunday. The show was a preview for Japanese experts and media officials ahead of the boy band's debut in Japan.

However, some 800 British K-pop fans caught wind of the performance and packed the street outside the studio early Sunday morning. When the boys finally appeared, the crowd went wild.

Due to frequent requests, the concert organizer selected 40 fans in a drawing and let them enter the studio.

Abbey Road Studios is famous for the final recording site of the Beatles. World-renowned singers including Stevie Wonder have also performed live there. Shinee is the first Asian artist to do so.
