The nation’s Information Network Village Project and Minwon 24 have both received first place at the 2011 U.N. Public Service Awards.
The UNPSA is the most prestigious award in public administration. The Public Administration and Security Ministry said the Information Network Village Project contributed to narrowing the information gap and has a very high potential to be adapted for developing nations.
The project established self-reliable village communities capable of future growth by developing information network environments. It also grew the income of residents through e‐commerce in fishing, agricultural and mountain regions that are usually left out of information networks.
The ministry said that the high quality of the South Korean electronic government has been acknowledged through Minwon 24. It is the government’s civil service portal and offers online information and application services such as moving, finding employment, and real estate trading.
