A flower dedication ceremony was held at the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington on Friday to mark the 61st anniversary of the Korean War.

Some 100 guests attended the event, including South Korean Ambassador to Washington Han Duk-soo, embassy officials and Korean and American veterans, to remember the sacrifice of the fallen soldiers.

Military attaches and other officials from 16 countries who fought in the Korean War lined up around the memorial park and laid flowers when the name of their country was called out.

In the evening, a Korean-American association in Virginia and the Korea-U.S. Exchange Council hosted an event to extend gratitude to Korean War veterans.
