Koreans Protest Outside NK Embassy in Berlin

A group of 30 Korean-Germans and members of North Korean defectors groups held a protest outside the North Korean embassy in Berlin. They called for the shutdown of political prisoner camps in North Korea.

In the hour-long protest on Friday afternoon local time, the protesters also called on North Korea to guarantee freedom of religion, improve its human rights conditions and stop its nuclear development.

They held pickets and chanted slogans.

They also put in the embassy's mailbox a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il and a booklet containing the names of 254 prisoners detained at North Korean political concentration camps.
