Kremlin: Medvedev Has No Plans to Meet NK Leader

The Kremlin says that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has no plans to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.

Kremlin press secretary Natalya Timakova told reporters on Tuesday that Medvedev is scheduled to attend various events when he visits Vladivostok from Wednesday, but his plans do not include a meeting with the reclusive North Korean leader.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also dismissed the possibility of such a summit, saying he has no information on the matter.

Timakova and Lavrov’s comments come after Russian and Japanese media said Medvedev and Kim will hold summit talks in Vladivostok around Friday.
